Chemical Skin Peels

Chemical Skin Peels

What is this treatment?

Chemical skin peels, using a combination of Vitamin C, L-ascorbic,lactic and salicylic acid, work to rejuvenate the skin by removing the surface layer and penetrating deeply into the cells. They are designed to target the signs of ageing, acne and pigmentation. A course of treatments is recommended and they work well in conjunction with medical microdermabrasion.

How does the treatment work?

The peel removes the outer dead layers of the skin and then infiltrates the deeper cells. The anti-ageing peel stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which fill out fine lines and wrinkles.

For acne prone skins the peel solution has significant sterilising, anti-microbial and anti inflammatory properties. These act to control the bacteria, reduce clogged pores and decrease the risk of future scarring. Pigmentation responds to the pigment suppressor in the peel which effectively reduces unwanted discolouration.

What does the treatment feel like?

During treatment the skin is thoroughly cleansed and the prepping solution applied, followed by the peel itself. A layer of wet gauze is placed over the skin, and the peel is then activated by the application, by a syringe, of cold water. Most clients feel just a slight tingling or warmth, but a fan is used to keep the face comfortable.

Is it safe?

Perfectly. The concentrations used (25% & 40%) ensure minimum, if any, discomfort and no downtime, unlike high concentration peels which are often featured in the media.

What results can I expect?

Visible results with no redness or irritation; a firmer, smoother more radiant appearance, a more even skin tone; acne is controlled and pigmentation reduced.

How much does it cost?

A 45 minute session is £45.00.
